Like many cities across the United States, the City of New Kensington, Pennsylvania is experiencing a revitalization that is rooted in innovation. More than $30 million in new construction is underway and the downtown district is experiencing economic growth. In addition, the city has obtained funding to integrate municipal services and infrastructure through the New Kensington Smart Growth Revitalization Plan. This plan has already led to the installation of smart sensors and cameras within the city’s downtown area.

The City has partnered with CivicMapper to implement a cloud-based Geographic Information System and corresponding geodatabases that will serve as the basis of data management and decision-making across multiple city departments. At the heart of this system is a County-maintained property dataset that provide a vital link to many of the services provided by New Kensington, and are the basis of code enforcement, public safety, tax collection, approvals, permitting, and other critical city functions. CivicMapper is developing Enterprise GIS solutions to create a sustainable and dynamic geospatial foundation across multiple departments that will improve efficiency, modernization, and innovation for years to come.
